When buffed by Gift of the Ox orbs, it can increase dramatically. A basic, unbuffed Expel Harm is not huge, around 5% of your base health. It’s cheap, and it’s on a mere 5-second cooldown. It sucked!Įxpel Harm has been revamped into a synthesis of the best parts of its original and Legion/BFA designs, and the result is something better than it has ever been. It took one of the most self-sufficient classes in the game and made it one of the least. Tying its usability to Gift of the Ox orb spawns crippled the class’ ability to effectively self-heal. and draws in the positive chi of all your Healing Spheres to increase the healing done by Expel Harm.Įxpel Harm has technically been a part of the Brewmaster kit since its Legion redesign in the same way that napkins can technically be food if you’re hungry enough. NEW Rank 2 Cooldown is reduced by 10 sec.Extraction du mal Draw in the positive chi of all your Healing Spheres, and expel negative chi, damaging the nearest enemy for 10% of the amount healed. This rocks.ĮDIT: The Purifying Brew interaction ( Breuvage céleste) has been reduced to a maximum of 200% as of August 5th. The lack of self-healing, and total reliance on healers to keep your health pool maintained at all times has been a thorn in Monk’s paw since Legion. It’s on the GCD, which is annoying, but it’s still an excellent addition that puts Brewmasters in a much better defensive position than they have been since Legion. Celestial Brew greatly improves on the original Guard design, granting a powerful absorb shield with zero resource cost on a cooldown that scales with Brew recharge and rewards skillful use of Purifying Brew with a larger shield. The community has wanted Guard back since it was removed with Legion, and the BFA talent was nothing like the original.

Monks have several limitations to offset the tremendous advantage Stagger provides: low armor, small health pools, limited self-healing, one defensive cooldown (don’t say Zen Meditation), and a weakness to sustained magic damage. By evenly spreading out ~80% of all damage taken into a 10/13-second Stagger, Monks become dramatically less susceptible to spikes of damage than any other tank. What usually kills tanks who aren’t making mistakes is taking too much damage in a short period of time (a.k.a., a “spike”). I’ll start by saying Brewmaster’s still good, and I would argue it’s considerably more fun in Shadowlands than BFA.īefore looking at the changes and additions to Brewmaster Monks in Shadowlands, let’s start with a look at what made Brewmasters such strong tanks in BFA.
